Seminars in Retreat Center!
Hello friends,
Due to the current success and popular demands, I am thinking to take the final group of 5-6 students in 2015 for three years training. However, this group will only focus on Taijiquan and Qigong. It will not have age limitation. I believe with 8 hours of learning and practice each day for three years, a student will be able to learn Taijiquan, Pushing Hands, Fighting Set, Sparring, as well as Taiji Saber, Taiji Sword, and Taiji Staff (Spear) with good quality. In addition, in order for them to reach to a high level, they all have to learn Qigong as well.
The application for 5 years program has opened now for those who are interested and serious. The age limitation is between 17 and 25. All selected candidates will be invited to the Center for a month of training and testing to experience the life here. From this testing, candidates will develop a better feeling of living and training in this remote mountain area.
As matter of fact, five interested applicants have arranged to come here from March to June to experience their life and training here (England-1, France-1, Austria-1, USA-2). I sincerely believe this new recruitment will be very successful. If you are interested or you know someone may be interested, please pass the word on. Application information is available online at:

Hello friends,
The 10-year training program at the YMAA Retreat Center is progressing smoothly. Semester by semester, we are getting closer and closer to the training goals I set forth at the beginning of the program. I always tell my students that the best reward a teacher can ever have is seeing their progress. That’s a feeling I have always enjoyed and a feeling I hope to always have through my teaching.
We are pleased with the increasing interest and attention that the YMAA Retreat Center has been receiving from martial arts and sports enthusiasts alike. At this point, the center has been interviewed by more than 10 magazines. In March of this year, we are also planning to host ESPN for an interview and tour of our center. This is very exciting news. I believe that from this broadcast, we will be able to find a good, dedicated students for the upcoming 5-year program. Furthermore, I hope that through this broadcast, the center will stimulate public interest in supporting struggling and overlooked arts.
The application for the 5-year program will be open from now until January 2013. We are looking for serious and committed students. Please download the PDF application for detailed information on requirements. All selected candidates will be invited to the center for a month of training and testing to experience the life here. From this testing period, candidates will develop a better feeling of living and training in this remote mountain area.
We already have five interested applicants who have arranged to come here in March to June of this year (England-1, France-1, Austria-1, USA-2). I sincerely believe that the results of this round of applicants will be very successful. If you are interested or you know someone who may be interested, please pass the word on. Application and detailed information is available in the downloadable PDF at:

Additionally, by popular demand, I am considering taking a final group of 5-6 students in 2015 for three years of training in only internal arts: Taijiquan and Qigong. It will not have an age limitation. I believe that with 8 hours of learning and practice each day, students will be able to learn Taijiquan, Pushing Hands, Taiji Fighting Set, Taiji Sparring, Taiji Saber, Taiji Sword, and Taiji Staff (Spear) to a high level of quality within the three year time period. Naturally, they all have to learn Qigong as well to reach a high level.
It has been proven from various studies that saunas are able to aid in exponentially increasing the rate of recovery from injuries. Because of the strenuous workouts and high physical demand on the students of the training program, the YMAA Retreat Center has constructed a sauna in order to help reduce recovery time from common injuries. In the five months that we have had this sauna, we have experienced this expedited healing process.
The Retreat Center has also established a 100 yard shooting range to practice archery and marksmanship practice. My hope is for students to become proficient in these skills and eventually participate in international competitions.
